EROS Tablet — Too Little, Too Late?

Everyone’s talking about January 27 — that’s the time when Apple’s set to make big announcements about their next lineup of upcoming products. If the rumors are any indication, it’s almost certain that the iSlate/iTablet will be making its debut. Which makes us wonder — what’s EROS thinking, releasing their own tablet device now? Available only in China, the EROS tablet is a 10.2-inch resistive touchscreen device that runs on either Windows 7 or XP. It’s a very simple-looking device, with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and all the standard ports. There are two versions — the first with 160 GB of storage and 1GB RAM, the second with twice those specs — and they both retail for under US$440. The major sore point about the EROS tablet is its battery life, running a woeful 2.5 hours on XP and 1.5 hours on 7. If you can’t wait to get your hands on a tablet, and if you’re dropping by China before next Wednesday, then at least there’s an offering for you.
